BAD BREATH DIAGNOSIS

"Bad Breath is due to a bacterial imbalance of the biofilms of the mouth and throat. Therefore we look for signs and symptoms of this imbalance."

Do you use a Tongue Cleaning Program
90% of bad breath comes from protein breakdown at the back of the tongue (gag reflex). It is not enough to use a toothbrush occasionally on this area. Similarly it is also not sufficient to use just a tongue cleaner on the tongue surface. Removal of tongue coating must be done twice a day. Our studies show that coatings older than 12hours are the ones that break down to smells form gases Hydrogen Sulphide (rotten eggs) and methyl mercaptan (faeces).

Our BreezeCare Breath Clinic has devised a protocol for tongue cleaning that goes something like this. Using a tongue gel (a non foaming gel specifically designed not to hurt the tongue) massage the gel into the tongue surface with your toothbrush. Be vigorous but not hard. Never make the tongue bleed. This activity breaks up the coating and de bonds the bacteria. It is not a cleaning action.

Next using your tongue cleaner, do complete sweeps down the surface of the tongue from back to front or to the sides. Only clean off the coating that comes off easily. Sometimes the tongue may be stained and this will not come off until after you have been cleaning properly for a few months.

Check your tongue cleaning efficiency by rubbing a clean handkerchief or clean spoon down the tongue surface. See if what comes off smells. Generally if you clean twice a day, properly as described above, any tongue coating will have no odour to it.

Does your Floss Smell, or Do your Gums Bleed
Did you know that most people do not floss at all, and the few that do either are not regular or do it wrong. Amazing statistic that we see every day at our breath clinic. Bacteria that cause gum disease can live at the back of the tongue and if the gums are not kept in tip top condition, these bacteria can migrate to a new home under the gums. Once there, they start to break down gums to make blood. They like to use the iron in the blood for energy, as these types of bacteria do not live on oxygen.

Take a piece of Teflon Coated Dental Tape and slide it horizontally between the teeth. Once the tape is through the contact point, then hold it tight against the contour of the tooth and slide the tape down into the gum as far as it wants to go, without any pressure. Take the tape back up to the contact point and do the same thing on the adjacent tooth. If you haven't done this for a while the gums may be sore and may bleed. This is not because you are damaging them, but rather due to the inflammation that occurs when you do not floss regularly and properly, Bleeding will settle down in about 3 to 5 days, if there are no periodontal issues. If the bleeding doesn't subside then you need to visit your dentist quickly.

Do you use a Saline Nasal Flush Daily
The next major source of protein being broken down to bad breath smells is throat mucous. Mucous is produced in the nose all day and drips down the back of the throat. 50% of the mucous lines the throat whilst the other 50% drops onto the back of the tongue at the gag reflex. If too much mucous collects in the throat , then it stops the fine cilia from working and removing the mucous s from the throat. In these instances the only way to remove this collection of mucous is to flush Hypertonic Saline daily through the nose into the throat. Over time this keeps collection to a minimum and allows the natural cilia in the throat to remove the daily buildup.

As for the mucous that drips onto the tongue surface, itt can only be cleaned away with a mouth cleaning program such as the one we have designed in our clinic, and available to all our Internet customers. This is a daily cleaning ritual that gives amazing benefits. If you clean your teeth on waking because you have a bad taste in your mouth or morning breath, then this is the explanation.

Do you still eat Dairy Products such as Milk and Cheese
Milk and cheese are probably the major lifestyle and food products that almost always cause bad breath. On top of this both these products, thicken nasal mucous and therefore increase nasal issues.

There is no reason to have these two things in your diet. Calcium and other healthy ingredients can be sourced from many products. At our clinic we recommend that patients substitute Oat milk or rice Milk for dairy. These are easily available from supermarkets and taste just as good as dairy milk. No animal milk or soy milk is allowed if you suffer from bad breath.

As for cheese, this is the worst offender, and must be completely removed from your diet, if you want bad breath relief. When we test patients on our Halicheck machinery we can detect cheese for up to two days after it has been consumed. This shows the potency of the product. Really the choice is yours.

BreezeCare Clinic Checkup
I have placed above the main culprits in bad breath. Obeying these rules will go a long way in helping you with any problems. Following these rules and using the BreezeCare Starter, Refill or Quick Fix Kits will help control most problems.

However for complete assurance, I always recommend that you have a Halicheck Breath Test, only available from our clinics in Australia, UK and Malaysia. This test will give you a digital and graphical readout of your three main bad breath gases in a s little as 8 minutes. The check comes with a diagnosis and treatment plan. So you leave our clinic well on your way to fresh breath.
